Follow me through the future and witness the time of mankind, an anthology of short stories, as the seasons change... Winter: at its harshest, an ex-con searches for his way home in a torn, dystopian world. Spring: brings the launch of the first colony ship to a new world, yet the mysteries of the past remain to be discovered, and legacies of the old wars refuse to die. Summer: opens mankind to the galaxy, and grand hopes of discovery in the great vastness, but what lurks in the darkness will eventually find us. Our destiny may be so very different then what we imagine. Fall: our creations prevail, but will we be the architects of a new cycle of life? What will the winter bring? Peter MacMillan 5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful and entertaining read. "Highly recommend this book. It is the best anthology I have read in many years. Creatively capturing and keeping the reader's interest throughout. Looking forward to seeing more from Patrick Lozon. " |

A Bellicose Dance
Earth is a beacon, a lighthouse in the middle of a roiling dark sea, broadcasting wildly on multiple frequencies. It’s no surprise it would be found…
Ryan didn’t have a chance, awakening into a brutal hell that only the strongest could survive. Enslaved, beaten, branded, it should have killed him. But then he met her, and he made a promise he had to keep.
The slaver’s arrival would be the first of many. It was only a matter of time before the Xi-Empire focused its war machine upon Earth. But there was something else tearing at the fabric of the predatory Empire, something which could slow its encroachment, and provide just the right opportunity for a revolution.
On a distant jungle-laden planet a single man would beat the odds and put into motion a set of events that would drive the fates of not only worlds, but empires.
The is a tale of survival, courage, conviction and revenge - but more importantly the morality of man. What will we carry to the stars? Will we continue to be the devouring virus, swallowing up resources, challenging and taking from other less-capable civilizations (when we find them)? It may also be possible we will be on the receiving side of this equation where another, more advanced, alien race will take what they desire, and leave little intact, obliterating us and our legacy.
The truth is none of us really know what's out there - at least not yet...
Looking forward to sharing this story!
Sincerely

Reviewed in Canada on July 30, 2019Great story. Good characters, fun read. Hard to put down. This should be a series instead of a single book. Would love to read more of this. If you like space battles, aliens, A.I.s, spaceships, then this is the book for you. I highly recommend it.

This is actually my second major title.
I started way back in 2004, and resurrected it last year. The original premise of the story was introduced under three guiding principals:
1) What would it be like to live on a world that was being terra-formed? Assuming there were multiple colonies involved : How did they trade with each other? Who would be brave enough to do it?
2) And (under the kind prodding by my wife) can my stories exercise some real depth: Can I or more accurately, am I able to introduce a female heroine?
3) What would it be like if something went wrong, such as the "TFPs" (Terra-forming Plants) failing - and most importantly why?
I'll leave the answers for you to discover. As with most of my stories, this one tends to take on a life of its own. I truly hope you enjoy it.

Very well written, great pacing, kept me up late reading. Original story that makes you think of it long after finishing the book. The female protagonist is believable. If only I could write a review as well as Mr. Lozon has written this book. Truly an overlooked gem. Glad I stumbled across it.
